Build a world, not just a wordmark.
A recognizable brand comes from relationships: between color and materials, words and images, promise and product.
LLC FIELD NOTES / A PRACTICAL WORKING GUIDE
01
Begin with a point of view
Describe the audience, the moment you serve, and the feeling you want to leave behind. Avoid trying to be everything to everyone.
- Choose one primary audience and use case.
- Write the promise without adjectives like premium or innovative.
- Describe what the brand deliberately does not do.
02
Create a small visual grammar
Use a few repeatable rules rather than an endless set of references. The goal is consistency across different applications.
- Choose type roles, not just typefaces.
- Define a primary palette and an accent rule.
- Set lighting, framing, and material principles for imagery.
03
Stress-test the system
A system should survive a small mobile card, a product label, and a campaign image. Test those edges before expanding it.
- Make one tiny, one dense, and one expressive application.
- Check legibility without zooming.
- Record the rules that survived all three.
